In order to maintain good relationship between the State House of Assembly and the media, the newly elected speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh has seek for a cordial Media relationship with the Imo State House of Assembly Correspondence for adequate reportage of legislative activities of the House.
The Speaker, stated this during an interactive session with the House of Assembly Correspondence at his office immediately after plenary.
He maintained that the role of the media can never be undermined as it remains the voice of the actions and in actions of the House.
“You are the voice of our actions and inactions. I want you to put into consideration the well-being of the State first in your reportage. Is not everything that you will report. You have to focus mainly on those things that will lift the State forward. I mean well for the House and will add my own quota to the progression of the House”. he said.
Accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon.Amara Iwuanyanwu, the majority leader of the House, Hon. Kanayo Onyewuchi and member representing Ihette-Mboma in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Micheal Onyemaechi Njoku, the Speaker reiterated that the legislative arm of government is most critical among others and assured that the House will apply the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the rules of the House to revamp the image of the House.
Hon.Ibeh further noted that the House is not unaware of the security challenges facing the State, that is not only peculiar to the State.
He assured Imolites that it is going to a thing of the past as the Governor is putting everything in place to checkmate the spate of insecurity in the State.
Reacting, the House of Assembly Correspondence through their spokes person lady Beatrice Anyiam of NTA pledged their support to portray the House in a good light and urged the Speaker to put into consideration the welfare of the House of Assembly Correspondence.
